We will observe the Lord’s Supper in our weekend services at First Baptist Church of Cape Coral this Saturday at 6:00 PM and Sunday at 10:00 AM.
Jesus said, “This do in remembrance of Me.” The Lord’s Supper is a memorial to the death, burial & resurrection of Jesus Christ. On the Cross He died for our sins, purchased us the gift of eternal life, healed us, delivered us, forgave us, and saved us.
Often the Lord’s Supper is called “communion” — the idea being that we are “communing” with God through the Lord’s Supper. While there is nothing wrong with that idea, there is nothing “magical” in the communion elements. We “commune” with God through worship, through prayer, through the Word of God, etc. Certainly one can commune with God as we meditate and observe the Lord’s Supper.
We look forward to the Lord’s Supper this weekend.
